As another year draws to a close, I’m thinking of the bravery and tenacity of the children and families with albinism in Nigeria that we support. I am inspired by the tenacity of the students and families I encounter on each journey to Lafia\u2014people who persevere in the face of overwhelming adversity with remarkable fortitude. I would like to share two very moving anecdotes from my most recent trip with you.<\/p>

I had the pleasure of meeting Sundi this September. She is a remarkable young woman who is a real inspiration to everyone at Under The Same Sun. Sundi’s path is proof of the value of education and your steadfast assistance. Because Sundi and her brothers have albinism, their family faces societal shame and poverty. She started our sponsorship program as a little child in 2010. Notwithstanding these challenges, Sundi has performed exceptionally well academically, most recently obtaining high national scores that allowed her to enroll at Muhimbili University to pursue her goal of becoming a doctor.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
